Father for the first time
Ross became a father for the first time last weekend with the birth of a healthy baby girl.

Eve Rose Fisher was born at Helier Hospital for Children in Surrey, at 12.50am on Saturday the 25th of July. Eve is a healthy 8lbs 12oz, measuring 57cms and both baby and mum Jo are doing well.

“We are absolutely delighted to have Eve with us,” said Ross. “She is a gorgeous baby girl and nothing could have prepared me for the feeling that rushed through me when I first held her.

"Jo (my wife) is doing great too. She was 10 days over-due and last week all Jo wanted was just to get it over and done with! But thankfully it was a natural birth and no other measures were required.

“We are both over the moon. This is a very special time for us and we are looking forward to raising Eve and starting our new family together.”

Ross will travel to the US on Sunday ahead of two big tournaments – the WGC Bridgestone Invitational, and the final major of the year, the US PGA Championship. Ross admits that leaving Jo and Eve is going to be difficult:

“I am sure I will find it very hard to leave them for two weeks,” said Ross. “But they are two very big tournaments and Jo fully supports my decision to play both events.

“Jo has always been so supportive of my job. She even threatened that if I was doing well at The Open and she went into labour that she would not tell me! I made her promise to tell me as I did not want to miss any of this. Thankfully she was late and I was home for the full week and birth with her. This is something we will never forget.”

Ross concluded: “We would both like to thank all friends and family for the very kind messages, cards, flowers and support we have received over the past few weeks. It means a lot to us both.”
