Having turned professional in 2004, Ross Fisher joined the European Tour in 2006. He earned his card by finishing 18th on the Challenge Tour's money list in 2005, and then improved his ranking at Final Stage of Qualifying School.
Ross came flying out of the blocks in his rookie season with a joint fourth finish in the Volvo China Open, his first event of the 2006 season.
He had to wait until 2007 before a maiden tour victory when he won the KLM Open, at Kennemer G&CC, by just one stroke to deny local favourite Joost Luiten.
Ross subsequently finished the year ranked 43rd on the Order of Merit.

Ross started the 2008 season with a joint-second place in the HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai, beaten by Phil Mickelson in a three-way play-off that also featured Lee Westwood. His performance that week was a true statement of his intent for the 2008 season.
In July 2008, Ross won his second European Tour event, The European Open on the Heritage Course at The London Golf Club by a comfortable seven strokes over his closest challenger, Sergio Garcia.
Accompanying that fine win were no fewer than nine other top-ten finishes. One of these was the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, where Ross came close to adding another win to his impressive CV, only to be denied by Robert Karlsson in a sudden-death play-off.
This was all on the way to securing a magnificent sixth place in the final 2008 European Tour Order of Merit standings, and entering the elite top-50 players in world golf. |

In 2009, Fisher continued in the same vain. Ross secured no fewer than seven global top-10’s, which included his biggest victory to date, a win at the Volvo World Match Play in October. This cemented Fishers place inside the worlds top-20, and also 4th position in the final 2009 Race to Dubai rankings.
Ross came close to winning three of the four majors in 2009, but unfortunately on these occasions it was not to be. Fisher did, however, shoot the lowest aggregate score of all competitors for 16 rounds in the majors, proving his calibre at the games biggest stage. Who knows what 2010 will bring….
